MOTHER & CHILD, Two Sopranos' Journey through Childhood and Womanhood- April 2015

Mother and Child, April 10-12, 2015

Amanda Horton, soprano
Simone Vigilante, soprano
Vance Reese, piano

A special concert years in the making between three Asheville friends, this program will include selections from the worlds of Broadway, folk songs and spirituals, American poets, and the operatic stage to explore the complex terrain of the relationships between mothers and children.  From the longing for children, to the bitter-sweetness of motherhood, to the struggles of understanding our mothers as adults, to the bonds of sisters, to the wonder of being a child of God, this beautiful musical experience is not to be missed.

Amanda, Simone & Vance have collaborated many times around Asheville: the Mozart Requiem with Asheville Symphony’s Amadeus Festival 2015; leading roles in Asheville Lyric Opera performances of The Sound of Music, Hansel and Gretel, The Marriage of Figaro, and The Magic Flute; OperaCreations productions of Dueling Divas and Gilbert & Sullivan operettas; and in various other symphonic works, fundraisers, benefits and community outreach events across Western North Carolina.  This is the first time we have mounted a full concert together, and we look forward to seeing you there!
